Dr. Olutola O. Adetona is a distinguished pediatrician and clinical researcher with extensive experience in Phase I–IV clinical trials. His career has been dedicated to advancing both child and adult health, as well as promoting excellence in medical education.
Most recently, Dr. Adetona served as Medical Director and Certified Principal Investigator at Worldwide Clinical Trials Early Phase (June 2023 – November 2024). In this role, he ensured strict adherence to research protocols, safeguarded participant rights and welfare, and oversaw the medical care of study subjects.
Before this, he held Principal Investigator roles at Benchmark Research (2021–2022) and Tekton Clinical Research (2016–2021), both in San Antonio, Texas. From 2011 to 2021, he owned and operated Practical Approach Pediatrics and Pediatric Urgent Care, where he provided comprehensive clinical care, managed administrative operations, and mentored medical students.
Dr. Adetona also brings a robust background in emergency medicine, having served as an Emergency Room Physician at Edinburg Children’s Hospital, North Central Baptist Hospital, Coastal Bend Emergency Services, and Driscoll Children’s Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas. His responsibilities spanned patient care, administrative leadership, and clinical education.
He began his clinical research journey at Tekton Research, where he played a key role in protocol compliance and the management of investigational agents.
Dr. Adetona earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He completed his pediatric residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center and Christus Santa Rosa Children’s Hospital, with additional training at Driscoll Children’s Hospital. In May 2012, he obtained a Master of Public Health (MPH) from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.
Licensed to practice medicine in Texas, Dr. Adetona is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Texas Medical Board, American Academy of Pediatrics, Bexar County Medical Association, Association of Clinical Research Professionals, and the World Medical Association. He is fluent in English and remains deeply committed to advancing pediatric and adult medicine through research, education, and advocacy.
His contributions to the field are further reflected in his publications and lectures, which are available upon request. Dr. Adetona continues to be a passionate advocate for improved patient outcomes and the mentorship of future healthcare professionals.
