Communications Specialist
Ricardo Carter is a Dallas-born and raised communicator dedicated to the intersection of technical precision and community-focused storytelling. A graduate of the University of North Texas, Ricardo earned his B.S. in Technical Communication with a minor in Journalism, establishing a foundation built on clarity, accuracy, and journalistic integrity.
In his current role as a Communications Specialist for the Black Men’s Health Clinic through the AmeriCorps VISTA program, Ricardo focuses on bridging the gap between healthcare resources and the community. His background spans technical writing, copyediting, and content creation, all informed by a strict adherence to APA and journalism standards. Ricardo is particularly passionate about exploring the boundaries of specialized writing and photography, using his lens to humanize complex information and ensure that vital health narratives are both accessible and visually compelling.
Prior to joining the clinic, Ricardo was a prominent contributor to the North Texas media landscape. He served as a photojournalist for the North Texas Daily and was an active member of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) at both the local and national levels. Whether he is documenting community events or refining technical copy, Ricardo’s work is driven by a commitment to “Technical Humanism”; the art of making specialized information feel personal and impactful for the people who need it most.
