Rev. N. Jordan Mkwanasi

Rev. N. Jordan Mkwanazi is a second-generation African Methodist Episcopal Church preacher. Born in Zimbabwe, Africa, Pastor Mkwanazi came to the United States at the age of eighteen and has lived in the United States for the past forty years. Rev. Mkwanazi is a tenured and experienced senior pastor with over thirty years of pastoral and ministerial experience.  He is a sought after preacher, workshop/seminar presenter, conference lecturer/presenter, author and motivational speaker.  He has preached in over four continents and over twenty countries; Zimbabwe, South Africa, England, Mexico, Botswana, Zambia, Lesotho, just to mention a few.

Rev. Mkwanazi has served the African Methodist Episcopal Church on all levels. Prior to coming to the United States, he served as the President of the Young People’s Division of the 17th Episcopal District comprising of Zimbabwe, Zambia and Malawi. He also served on the Board of Examiners (for three Annual Conferences), on the Preliminary Inquiry Committee, and on the General Board for four years representing the 10th Episcopal District. He has been afforded the opportunity to preach at the Annual Conference, Episcopal District and Connectional Church.

Rev. Mkwanazi completed his undergraduate studies at Paul Quinn College where he earned his BA in Social Work. He earned his Th.M. – Masters of Theology and MA in Sociology at Baylor University, Waco, Texas.

He has been the Senior Pastor at Metropolitan African Methodist Episcopal Church for 12 years. Under his leadership, Metropolitan has expanded its ministry base to over 32 ministries.

Prior to serving as the Senior Pastor of Metropolitan A.M.E. Church, he pastored Primm Chapel A.M.E. Church in LaMarque, Texas, St. James A.M.E. in Dickerson, Texas, Evangelist Chapel A.M.E. Church in Houston and Bethel A.M.E. Church in Dallas.

While in Houston, he served on the Pastoral Advisory Board for the Mayor of Houston. He also served on the Board of Bay Area Habitat for Humanity comprising the cities of Clear Creek, Dickinson, Santa Fe, Hitchcock and LaMarque.

Rev. Mkwanazi worked extensively in the Criminal Justice System as a Probation Officer in Galveston County, Texas for over 10 years prior to working in full time ministry.

He currently serves as the President of Mkwanazi Compassion International (MKWCI) a nonprofit organization that assists with education by providing scholarships, with schools, health and investments in Zimbabwe, Africa.

Rev. Mkwanazi is the author of “Loaded Gun Under Your Nose” a Xulon Press. Pastor Mkwanazi is married to Rev. Henrietta Sullivan Mkwanazi who serves as the Co-Pastor of Metropolitan A.M.E. Church in Austin, Texas.
