Jenny Maxwell

Nursing & Veterans Health Care System

Ms. Jenny Maxwell is a Pain Management Nurse Practitioner and is well-versed in caring for patients with chronic illnesses, such as HTN (Hypertension), Diabetes, hypothyroidism, blood diseases and prostate disease at the Dallas Veterans Hospital in Dallas Texas. She earned her Bachelors of Science in Nursing and Masters of Science in Nursing/Nurse Practitioner degrees from Rutgers State University and the University of Texas in Arlington; is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and licensed as an Adult Nurse Practitioner, Registered Nurse, and for Basic Cardiac Life Support. Ms. Maxwell held multiple positions including Management and Urology Nurse Practitioner, Clinic Nurse for Home Based Primary Care – Community Nursing Homes, Clinical Coordinator, Registered Nurse Case Manager, Staff Charge Nurse, and Ambulatory Care. She currently oversees 14 to 16 patients daily with various pain issues and problems, such as disc disease, lumbar cervical radicular pain, spinal stenosis and fractures and other pain problems.

Professional Nursing Practice/NP Program Experiences

  • A total of 670 clinical hours completed. Documented clinical hours in E-log. Clinical areas include Adult/Internal Medicine, Psychiatric, and Geriatrics management. Clinical training completed at: Dallas Veterans Hospital, Dallas, TX; Baylor Senior Center, Garland, TX; Harris Methodist Southwest Outpatient clinic, Fort Worth, TX; and Towngate Plaza Medical Center, Dallas, TX.
  • Developed and proposed research, evidenced-based project on Factors Affecting Pregnant Women Who Have Sickle Cell Disease.
  • Proposed an evidence-based project on a group project on Smoking Cessation.
  • Presented an evidence-based project on Dermatology, e.g., folliculitis, carbuncles, pemphigus, and burns.
  • Presented an evidence-based project on Myasthenia Gravis.

  • The National Scholars Honor Society.
  • Membership in the North Texas Nurse Practitioners (NTNP).
  • Membership in the Texas Nurses Association (TNP).
  • Certification of Appreciation received in May 2007, 2012, and 2013 for recognition of exemplary contribution of America’s War Disabled through contributing actively, materially & significantly toward rehabilitation.
  • Certification of Appreciation received in August 2006 and 2011 for improving patient access & appointment management to the clinics.

Extra Activities/Curriculars

  • She volunteers yearly in Health Fair at her church, screening church members for hyperlipidemia, hypertension, and giving flu shots.
  • She gives monthly presentations at her church and the local voluntary agency on causes and prevention of hypertension.
  • She presents monthly diabetic classes, focusing on nutrition, exercises, and signs and symptoms of hyper/hypoglycemia.
