AUSTIN – The Black Men’s Health Clinic® (BMHC) is excited to announce that we are co-hosting a five-on-five basketball tournament with KAZI 88.7 FM to bring the community together for family-friendly sports, fun, music, and promote health. The tournament will be held on Saturday, the 15th of February, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Dove Springs Recreation Center. It’s $250 to register a team to compete, with a limit of 8 participating teams. The admission fee is only $5 to watch the game. Winners will receive a $1000 cash prize!
KAZI 88.7 FM has been an important part of the Austin community in creating an inclusive space for media access where anyone can jam to music or educate oneself in community news, local issues, and more. As a volunteer-run and listener-supported non-profit, KAZI is a radio station made by the people of Austin for the people of Austin. BMHC is proud to connect with KAZI 88.7 FM as we continue to build strong and welcoming communities. Not only will there be basketball, but also various vendors, KAZI DJ meet and greets, musical performances, and more! It is sure to be an exciting addition to the basketball tournament. BMHC’s Outreach & Engagement Program Manager, Cameron Morgan, stated, “This collaborative effort between Black Men’s Health Clinic and KAZI 88.7FM, will provide an amazing opportunity to strengthen the community through shared laughter, learning, competitive spirit, and genuine connection.”
KAZI’s Station Manager, Reno Dudley, joined in and stated, “I believe this is both a great opportunity for us to engage our community and educate them on their health. Having such an amazing event in Dove Springs reaches so many who need this type of event.” All proceeds this year will benefit KAZI 88.7 FM in their mission to bring media access and future events to the Austin community.
The Black Men’s Health Clinic will be onsite to help schedule any health-related appointments needed amongst our Care Network, at no additional cost to you. BMHC will provide blood pressure screenings for those who are interested and share details about our Healthy Cuts™ giveback incentive, worth $25 towards a haircut, to take care of your body and look good at the same time! Be sure to join us at this fun event and stop by our table. You do not want to miss it!
