Born in Houston, Tx Evan Porter comes from a legacy of service, community and excellence. A practicing registered nurse for over seven years, Evan has a strong commitment to promoting health and well-being, With her bachelor’s from the historically black, Xavier University of Louisiana, Evan decided to return to school and become a nurse. As a floor nurse, she accepted multiple leadership positions, sat on the shared governance board and mentored new nurses. At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, she created a workflow the minimized patient infections entering the hospital for outpatient surgical services.
Currently, Evan is promoting health in a non-traditional way providing international monitoring for a clinical research organization. Working in cross-functional teams to ensure patient safety in a clinical research environment. She also serves on the San Antonio Rising Professionals Board and Texas Nurses Association Government Affairs committee, creating relationships with elected officials and promoting the nursing agenda. Evan is pursuing her MSN-FNP at the University of Texas at Arlington, while still making time for her son’s sporting events and her daughter’s ballet recitals. In her free time, she finds inspiration in long walks, reading books, and finding new recipes.
